Hello, I recently got this sword and was wondering if it was real. I looked it over for some makers mark but couldnt find any. Under the tanget was very dirty and nothing can be seen. The baklite handle is gone and some mabye some dried up sharkskin can be seen under the wires. Besides that, the sword appears to be a ww1 german officers parade sword. I was just wondering if anyone knew who made it and if it is real.
Looks good. The maker mark should be under the crossed cannons near the hilt (or on the other side)-- a flashlight may be needed to help you see it.
Believe these are actual pre- WW1 in origin-- 1890s.
This grip never had bakelite. I have seen them leather wrapped-- sharkskin would have been a step up in price.

Looks real to me. I actually haven't heard of these being faked.
