I only call these "old" for the fact that nowadays modern surveyors/etc who use such tools probably have much more smaller and more capable electronic/computerized/lasered/GPS tracked machines than that which would have been intended to be mounted atop some kind of little platform/receiver which these legs would have themselves attached to. Antique "transits/transit levels" are indeed often gorgeous works of precision polished brass and glass bits and pieces and adjustments themselves -- FAR MORE fun, no doubt, than their modern replacements.
But anyways, all I've got here is these 3 legs, rescued from a dumpster years ago. One has obviously been wounded and "repaired". <ahem> My truck tailgate and the yardstick give an idea of their size, each has a nifty shaped cast aluminum pointie sorta 'foot' on one end and 'bracket' on the other with a 'stiffener' betwixt them, the only marks on any parts of them are the (part?) number "9010-3" with a small triangular logo (?) beneath it, on one side of each top bracket.
Thanks so kindly to fortapache, vetraio50, Irishcollector., & yougottahavestuff for your <love it>s! Frankly I still don't know what on earth I'll ever possibly *do* with these things (nor, in fact, why I felt compelled to rescue them from that dumpster back then?) but no matter I suppose...they're here now, anyways...?? <lol>
