This is an Arcade No. 25 (circa. 1920's) coffee grinder that was manufactured by Arcade in Freeport, Illinois. Founded in 1885, Arcade Manufacturing Co. made small cast iron machinery for home use, especially coffee grinders. They made coffee grinders from their inception until the 1930s. Edgar and Charles Morgan invented new grinders for Arcade in their early years. It has almost all of it's original finish with blackened "rust curing" treatment in a few spots. The grinder body is plain with only the handle having some fancy scroll-work. The original gasket that is between the glass hopper and the body was present but needed to be replaced as it had hardened and no longer held the hopper in place as it should. The glass is in perfect condition and has the original tin lid. I cleaned all of the internal parts (really only two parts: moving grind surface wheel and base/housing grind surface) the exterior and glass were thoroughly cleaned and it does work -- grinds coffee ! This mill has a new replica catch cup. This Arcade wall mount mill is approximately 15 1/2" tall and can be mounted under most cabinets or on the wall. I hung mine on the side of one of our built-in kitchen cabinet outer walls.
