This great piece from Iwata recently arrived from Japan.
I think it dates to the 1980s or so, and I don't know who would have designed it.
It's made from a dark blue glass cased in clear, made into a flat slab and rolled. During production it has had clear glass balls inserted into the glass so the light shines through like stars on a velvety sky.
It's about 30cm tall
Gorgeous & unique blue lamp, love those little glass balls they definitely have a starlight appearance when lit & give a mysterious quality
That is just super cool...
That's a great lamp, when lit up it looks like a little slice of a galaxy complete with stars and a moon, it's very mystical and would look perfect in someplace like Nostradamus or Galileo's modern attic apartment (if either had one!) :P
Hey thanks Jenni! The balls make it really, and even unlit they highlight the whole piece.
It’s an interesting a different piece of Japanese glass.
Suit you then Marin!
I mean that.
Of course I don’t have one of them Lauren but I get the vibe.
It will have to stay here with us in this daggy 70s house and show us up and allow us to dream lol.
Thanks :))
:-)
Thanks so much, my dear friend...
Your 70s home vibes could be rather appropriate for a spaced - out piece like this...
Wonderful ingenious piece, I love the creativity it displays!
Wow I love your lamp ! I would use it and display for sure :-)
Thanks Lisa, it is a quite simple piece that shows how glass can work in lots of ways.
Thanks for your love.
Thanks Mani, and great to hear from you!
Thanks for the love and comment Maureen.
Clearly your son has good taste! :)
So sorry Eileen, and I will leave this up to keep me real :))
It’s a beautiful color along with being unique.
Hey thanks Jim, glad you like it!
