This Sydenstricker Glass 12" Large Dinner Plate was one of my Flea Market finds on 06/20/2020. The Art Glass Plate is signed on the bottom center of the Plate, but when I found it, it was impossible to make out the signature, and until I got it home, and did an image search, and was lucky enough to find one like it, and it was from the Sydenstricker Glass Site. The Glass plate is made with a molded and fused process, that fuses the colored powered glass pattern between two layers of clear glass, and also molds the front and back, with two different textures. Bill Sydenstricker continued to develop and perfect this unique art-form up until his passing in 1994. To this day, all of our pieces are made using the exact same process that Bill used in the 1960’s, and many of the original molds and stencil designs are still in production. All of our molds are handmade from high fire terracotta, each piece of glass is cut by hand, and every stencil is meticulously designed, drawn, and hand cut by one of the artisans.
Over the last fifty years, thousands of different designs have been produced by Bill and his small group of talented glass artists who continue to refine the craft and create new and exciting pieces regularly.
