I just bought these tiles at a local vintage shop. From what I can tell, they are Pilkington tiles, which I think were made in South Africa by Liebermann. I can't find anything about their age. Anyone know?
Welcome to CW Susan, I found this:
Pilkington's Tiles Ltd went into administration on 14 June 2010. Pilkington's brand was acquired by a Polish owned group of companies - Rovese S.A. However all of other company's assets were sold to different vendors
So to me it sounds like the Polish owned Group: Rovese S.A. just has the Pilkington's Tiles Ltd. Brand, but not related to the Pilkington's Tile Ltd. UK . So your Tiles were probably made after 2010.
I really like the Tiles that you got, but I love the photo that you took of them! :^D You should frame that, and hang it on the wall! :^D Thanks for showing, and Good Luck! :^)
Thank you Bill for your reply, but pretty sure they are Liebermann south Africa. Also, they were framed and I can tell from the frame that they are from at least 70s and perhaps earlier? Ill try to add a pic above of the very similar Liebermann set that I found.
Ok Susan, thanks, I searched a lot of different posts, and Pilkington Pottery History, and Wikipedia has a few good pages on it. Thanks for posting hopefully someone will know, and be able to conform a production date. Good Luck! :^)
Here's a link Susan, to Kevin(vetaio50)'s post, it might help a little:
