Another attic find ,one of 4 Military jackets hanging there . The builder of my home at age 68 was a volunteer extroadinaire He is pictured in the close up as a drummer in a photo dated 1881 in Woolwich U.K. He served as a drummer in the Winnipeg 100 battalion Grenadier Guards in 1916 ( I have that jacket ) Failure to thrive discharge soon after aged 56 though he said he was 41.He then joined the 230th Forestry battalion recruited mainly around eastern Quebec and later from Western Canada . He was now 57 and still lying. His son
served in the regiment and they were together for 2 months before our volunteer was discharged again!
He saved his military jackets from 3 regiments and I recently found them in the house where he died. I hope to share his story on Nov. 11 with local schoolchildren.
This is artillery.
