I recently found this Koo Koo clock at a yard sale stuffed in a box an bought it for $10,I’ve tried finding more about it, but any I have found don’t have the colours this one has any help in identifying it an maker would be great it does need a few things to be working again just don’t want to spend a lot of money if only worth a $100,hopefully some knows something about my little find thank you in advance.

Looks like a Black Forest Koo Koo Clock. Very cool.

I believe the marking, "West Germany" was used from 1951 until 1955. That should help with the dating. For the maker you need to open the back panel. The works will be marked with the name of the company that made the clock works. For instance Regula was popular during those years. It should also be marked with the name of the company that actually assembled the clock. Looks like an item some GI brought home after buying it at the PX. This isn't where you ask values but I suspect $100 is far more than it is worth. Often times these are worth more selling the parts rather than the entire clock.

West Germany was in existence from 23 May 1949 and German reunification on 3 October 1990. As fhrjr2 mentions, a good look at the movement should give us more to go on.

Clocks are machines. Like any machine, there are costs involved with operating it. You can't really expect to have a clock properly fixed cheaply.

Getting a used car running reliably again may cost more than the car is worth on the market, but if it's not running, it's sold for salvage or parts.

In short, a running clock is worth more than one which isn't running but the repair won't "pay for itself". If you like the clock and want to have it running, get it properly serviced. If that's not in your budget right now, but you like the look of the clock, just hang it up for static display for now and be on the look out for a clock repair shop with a reputation for good work at reasonable rates.

      Good luck,

      Bruce

Looks like a "Hunter" Black Forest clock, the animals should be upside down like in hunted position, do they rotate? the mechanism should tell you more about it, nice piece!
