The 1907 London E Class Tramcar was released in 1956 and sold through 1965 giving it a 10 year run which is a long time for a Matchbox model. In the early days it was No3 but later on it became Y-3 as the Y designation was used for the Yesteryears.
The model comes with the original box and has some lettering on it. That happens but at least it does have a box with complete end flaps and it kept the model quite mint. This is the B style box which was used from 1954-1960. This has the 3 in a white circle on the end flap making it a B3 style box. There were 5 variations of the B box so that puts it around 1957 but I am not sure so circa 1957.
The E Class Tramcars were built until 1922 and the last one ran in 1952 as it says on the back of the box. Probably the Routemaster was taking over. That is the traditional London bus. The details on the roof can be seen in the last photo along with the box backside.
The model has no interior but many fine details on the outside. Plus the front and back circular stairs and drivers position. The drivers position is a little raised portion with gold paint. In reality it would be a few levers. This was electrically powered and ran on tracks. The underside has 8 little wheels although they are difficult to see.
Coming up next week is an exciting pipe truck!

Nice model. My Grandfather was a tram driver and would have driven one of those.
