Last week I went to the Blue Mountains with my daughter and ably guided by recommendations from our own IronLace we visited some op shops there. Many op shops around my area remain closed and it was nice to visit some, we were both in withdrawal.

My daughter as usual looked for work clothes. I am always found in bric-a-brac, and these are a few things I found.
Vintage Japanese glass! Of course! A nice water or cocktail pitcher by Sasaki, a covered bowl by Ishizuka, and a cool textured bowl I know is Japanese and think is maybe Sasaki too.
I also found the penguin clothes brush, unused, with tag, and still in it's fab original box. Made in Hong Kong and I'm thinking late 50s/early 60s.
The two animals are Australian made. The koala is probably also 50s/60s and maybe Vetraio, fount of great knowledge, will have an idea who by. The kangaroo and joey are newer, unmarked, and nicely modeled.
Thanks to Marin a good day was had!

Fabulous finds here! Really gorgeous vintage Japanese glass pieces I can see why you were delighted, but of course I'm in love with your animals - adore that penguin clothes brush it is super adorable

So pleased to have been of help, & great to see that you had such super finds!
The penguin brush is the epitome of useful kitsch, & the artwork on the box is absolutely priceless (thank you especially for showing multiple views!) - that sweet retro gal & guy cheerily brushing their clothes is simply too adorable. I am in the throes of camp ecstasy at this very moment :-)
BTW, I picked up a fine Giorgio Armani jacket in the Leura Red Cross...not exactly cheap...but had to have it!

      Hey thanks Jenni!
The glass is not high end, more useful, but they are pieces I either haven't seen before or wanted, so good finds for me.
The little animals are cute but the brush was my exciting find! Isn't it so neat!
The box made the purchase :)))

We didn't get to Red Cross, got caught in Katoomba traffic trying to find some lunch. The place was a mad house and of course the Salvos there are now only opened Tuesday and Thursday so we missed out.
Armani and Leura, yeah correct fit :)

They are so CUTE!!! Kangaroo is my favourite- I love her pose, she's sitting up looking rather surprised by the koalas antics! :)

:-) That why it's my kinda town!
Traffic has been NUTS up here around K Town & Leura during the school holidays. So many people about - I am forever dodging them & walking in the gutter to keep social distancing properly! As to the Salvos, it was a fave of mine but haven't been in there for so long. I think last in late January? Then it got flooded in early February just before Covid19 hit...

Thanks Lauren and I am glad you got a favourite.
      The kangaroo is a sweetie.

So nice of you to comment and love six-0-one.
I've been after an Ishizuka dish for a while so was pleased to find it, and of course who could not love the penguin brush.
I may pour cocktails from my pitcher whilst stealing olives from my dish and eating grapes from the bowl after brushing myself down and all the while being watched by marsupials.

Salvos gave us a food bag when we asked about the op shop. We probably looked needy. We gave a donation.
Mad house! Traffic banked through roundabouts, people angry, not much tolerance at all. Yeah, school hols.
    10. IronLace IronLace, 4 years ago
Ha! My partner is of the general opinion that folks don't understand how to use roundabouts up here...plus, there is some rather poor street design. For instance, the Yeaman Bridge over the railway line, which is almost always gridlocked...
