One of possibly 3 still in existence, this Ed Dixon Cutaway model was from a United Airlines contract from 1948. These huge models
(six foot wingspans!) were displayed in prominent locations in the airport terminals for visitors and passengers to view. A sister ship is on display in the Smithsonian and also featured in their book, "On Miniature Wings" on pages 168-169. I have included a pair of photos from that book for reference. Originally these models came equipped electric toy train motors to turn the props and electric lights for the cabin
