I've got a sneak peek post coming too. Had a big day in Long Beach.
I see a nice boy scout coke ad and a Knott's Steak house thingy. That's where I like to eat when I go there.

Hey Brian, I was thinking about you on both of those buys! :^D You see those prices, $3.50 for a Filet Mignon Dinner with all the trimmings and Coffee included! Thanks for your comment, and the love that you gave! :^)

Nice finds Bill, pretty ceramics & cool old photo of Carmen Miranda in her headdress
    4. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 4 years ago
Thanks Jenni, the Vase is actually Cloisonne, I thought it was Glass at first! I liked that photo of Carmen Miranda, when I was young I liked her dancing and singing in Cartoons Merri Melodies, and Popeye the Sailor, I think. It just brought back some of the memories! :^D

Thank you both for the love that you gave, Jenni, and Kevin! :^)

Hey Bill, a lot people who are not familiar with this type of wireless Japanese enamel cloisonne, make the same conclusion, is is glassy after all, so not that far out.

I would love to see a closer look, gorgeous color and style. Thanks for posting, P.S. Is there a mark?

Your Wish is My Command Lisa! :^D No Mark I was surprised that there wasn't, but maybe had a Paper Sticker originally! Thanks so much for your comment and the love that you gave! :^)

I love the little (Celtic?) cross pendant -- do you have any idea what its story is?? NICE FINDS, Bill! :-) :-) :-) :-)
    8. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 4 years ago
Hey Tim yeah it's an old "German Iron Cross" Surfer Necklace, from the 1960's, I'll get some info posted for you in a bit! :^D Thanks for your comment, and the love too! :^)

Here's a link to an ebay page Tim, but I'll try to find out more!

My pleasure, are you that amenable at home (lol)?

Mine is a challenge, we have a lot of fun, who is going their last command....?

I am especially impressed with your cloisonne vase because I owned one that was just as beautiful, made by Ando, so it is special. Take my word for it :-0

Looks like the steakhouse has been replaced by the Ghost Town Grill.

Thanks Lisa, yes I do everything my Wife asks, when I'm ready to! :^O This one is unmarked, so I think a newer vase, but I don't know how to tell, they look so much a like! :^D

Hey Brian I've never been to Knott's Berry Farm, so I couldn't tell you one way or the other, ate a lot of their Jams though! :^Q

Thank you for the love Kevin(kwqd)! :^)

      Bill,
Now that is typical husband material you are, reminds me of the cartoon Blondie and Dagwood, when the guy often had a nap on the couch.

We have different time lines for 'when I am ready', mine is asap for him, his is 2 years from now for me, maybe. LOL.

Seems my comment about the way to tell a more recent cloisonne vase is with the rims. Japanese often used sterling silver for special high value pieces, and silverplate on copper for the other vases, you can tell as it is worn and see the 2 metals.

After 1950s we see cloisonne vases with nickel while metal rims, and often with no marks, but with a label. I had a recent 1980s Ando vintage box and ashtray set with an Ando label, and Gump's the retail store. The label image is somewhere...else.

      Lisa,
The "I'm on it mode" s_l_o_w_e_d down after we retired, work time was over! :^D Even if it had to get done, it's a lot easier to pay someone else to do it! After all I have to mow the lawn and put out the garbage once a week, what more could you want? It sounds good now, because my Wife isn't in the room! :^)

That Box Set is a Beauty, and with the label too is nice! Thank you for showing! :^D

Making me laugh Bill, sounds just like my guy, he mows the lawn and does the garbage too, and looks after the dogs, and we split other chores and the shopping too.

He is pretty good as a handy man, does not like it when I do man stuff cause I get tired of waiting for him, but its never as good as if he did it..

26 years we have been together, we both knew each other from work, he was my boss for a while. That's how you get to know somebody, warts and all.

Yes, that label was a surprise, i did not see it till it was delivered. Stay safe.
