    Some sort of brass bell or alarm?

    Any information on this beautiful piece I found digging in backyard would be greatly appreciated

      Not sure what it is but I'm pretty sure it's not a clock.

      On my front door, I have an old fashioned “twist” doorbell (a reproduction) and your item may be such a thing.....with the twist handle missing.

      If it is a twist doorbell, you have the part that would be attached to the interior of the door.
      On the exterior of the door, there would have been a decorative little “handle” part that the visitor would twist.....that would operate the “clapper” or “clanger” thus ringing the bell.

      I hope that’s what you have....maybe you will find the rest of it someday. They make a lovely sound!

      Search ebay.com for like examples as "victorian door bell". You are missing the T handle for the outside of the door.
