Anyone know what type of table this is? What period? Is it furniture grade wood underneath the paint? If so, any idea what type of wood could it be?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Welcome to CW Maxhanna! :^D Are these tables the same on both sides, or do the go against a wall? What is their measurements? I'm thinking Entrance way tables that may have been on each side a large Portrait, or Mirror, held something like large Vases on them! Thanks for showing, Good Luck, and Stay Safe! :^)
Something like these Console Tables:

I hope this helps! :^)
What type wood is underneath? Are you serious? Nobody here has x-ray vision anymore than you do. Based on the age and style I would venture to say mahogany but it could equally well be oak, ash, maple, cherry etc. They only way to be sure is to strip it. Only a fool paints hardwoods. Doing so immediately diminishes the value.
