Holy cow, I think they’re original!

Bought the pair from a student who was moving out, for next to nothing. Figured they were cheap reproduction based on price, chipped veneer and being in a basement apartment. Honestly I bought them for sentimental reasons since my Grandpa had a couple when j was a kid.

When I went to take off the upholstery, I found details that made me think suspect they might be original 18th century. 1) the condition of the wood. 2) the nails 3) the horsehair stuffing. Also in digging online I saw that veneer WAS used in original Gondola chairs.
I don’t want to do too much to them, if they are original but definitely need to at least repair the dry rot in the seats (will use sawdust and wood glue).
