This is our large hybrid pink lilac tree, flowers in June, and every year we have a dozen of these large yellow and black butterflies, who arrive and pollinate the flowers, it is a pretty picture, but also an interesting event.
I know nothing about butterflies, but I love these and would like to know more about them. We are in Northern Ontario, Canada, in line with the upper tip of Lake Superior, for those who are geographically inclined. :-)
Added 2 close-ups of the Eastern and the Western Tiger Butterfly breeds.
If I were a butterfly I'd love that gorgeous pink lilac tree too! How wonderful to look out at that lovely tree & the butterflies too
Thanks Jenni, you must be psychic, it is in front of our large kitchen bay window where we sit for meals. Yes, it is a wonderful splash of color, after a long winter.
We call those Tiger Swallowtails Lisa I have a photo of one on a bush out front of our house. Here's an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail though:

Nice photo Lisa, thanks for posting! :^D Why Wear a Mask? To Keep Everyone Safe! :^)
Mask what mask? Just kidding, especially with my non verbal image of my undercover get up for the summer.
Bill, thank you, that was perfect as a link, now I can find out more, I will try to get some of my close-ups of this butterfly, files are in one if my back up image USB thumb drives.
This is so beautiful.
I love it.
You are welcome Lisa, I posted a Western Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly, for you! :^D
Stay Safe, and Well, remember to Wear a Mask like Lisa does! :^)
Another very fine butterfly and Lilac bush. Hopefully my butterfly bushes will bloom again so I can get photos.
Great fa, Brian glad you saw it and I could share it on CW for you and Bill, turns out pretty common, but what did I know...... :-)
Thanks Bill, I think we should start a new trend and have mask contests, gotta have some fun somehow. Keep the spirits up, there is a new slogan:
" Keep your mask on and your spirits up!"
Yeah something like Don't lose your Soul to the Spirits, Wear A Mask! Oops did I say That! :^o Please Wear a Mask, everyone is counting on you to! :^)
Ya, the longer this lasts, the more sources of humor we should pursue, otherwise, you know. Have a good one, that is the Canadian version of the Australian 'gooday mate'. :-)
"Don't lose your Soul to the Spirits" Bill comments. Hmmm.
I'll add to that (rightly, wrongly, PC or not) that "Spirits" (consumed in moderation hopefully) sometimes work a little in reverse that way too...? ;-) :-) :-)
Us old folks gotta be careful with the liquid spirits, we might have indulged in the past, but the body is not so willing to tolerate it now. So, best to find and keep a light hearted mood somehow.
Added 2 new images of close ups of the Eastern and Western (compliments of Bill) Tiger Butterfly breeds, to compare and see they are not quite the same in their wing's yellow and black stripes.
They look real close to me! I am surprised, thought they would be more different! :^D Thanks Lisa! Take Care, Stay Well, Wear a Mask, and Care that We're all Well! :^)
Me too Bill, had to stare for a while to see any difference, just mainly the second stripe down joins up with the first on my butterfly image.
What do you mean "care that were all well", of course. Not a bystander when people are in trouble. No matter who they are....lol.
Lovely nature.
