Here's a Western Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly in our front yard in California in June of 2020, but we see them from Spring to Fall! :^D
The Western Fence Lizard or Blue Belly Lizard(what we call them) might be trying to catch the Butterfly, except that it's
a few miles away! Here's a link to the Western Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly for more information, that I'll also post in comments! :^D

Thank you for looking, and all comments are welcome! Always Wear a Mask, when in Public six feet Social Distance! :^)

    4. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 4 years ago
Thanks Jenni, I took 3 photos of it, trying to get closer, and better angle each time and this was the 3rd, and best! :^D Here's a Yelp link for Markham Gardens, in Concord, California, where we went, and I took the photos, in fact it's where I took my CW page photo! :^D Yelp had a better photo album, than the Garden's own Web Site. Please check it out:
      https://www.yelp.com/biz/markham-nature-park-and-arboretum-concord
When I was a kid, we would walk up the Creek, that flowed through the Markham Estate, getting Snakes, Frogs, Toads, Lizards, and Crawdads. A fun time then, but a very different place now! :^D

Thanks for the love that you gave, Kevin, and Jenni too! :^D Keep Safe and Wear a Mask! :^)

Just said goodnight to my old boy, no 6 feet required there, of course you are 3 hours behind the sunset, so have a good evening Bill. :-)

What can I say, but Have a Good Day, and Stay Six Feet Away!
      Masks not optional! :^D

Thank you much, for the loves given, Kevin(kwqd), Vynil, and Patricia, it's always good to get! :^D A Mask in Hand will not work, Please Cover your Mouth and Nose! :^)

What are you doing up in California? It is 10 am here, and we are having our coffee.

That made me laugh -Have a good day, and stay Six Feet Away- it rhymes, so you are a poet to? Have a nice day and a great weekend Bill.
    14. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 4 years ago
I had my first Cup at 5am Lisa. Of course I'm a Poet, can't you tell by my Beard, it's a Longfellow! :^D Hard to keep covered with a Mask, but when it's all scrunched up it's a better filter! :^)
    15. truthordare truthordare, 4 years ago
You are killing me, ha ha ha!
I actually pictured that, the beard flipped over your mouth under the mask, and for the same result....lol

I read somewhere that a moustache can help to keep a cold away, don't know if it's true, but I rarely caught a cold, and had a moustache most of the time from 13yrs old on! :^{D Stay Safe and Wear a Mask, even over a Beard, everyone needs to be Safe!
    17. truthordare truthordare, 4 years ago
Yup! Moustache will scare the microbes away, and some human beings too, depending how wild it is..... like handle bars.
    18. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 4 years ago
Trying to keep to topic . . . My moustache can get pretty wild, but when Butterflies and Moths start getting caught in, I try to keep it off my bottom lip! :^{l) Wear a Mask, and help keep Everyone Safer! :^)

do you need pollinating, or else are they lost?

keep it off your mouth with duct tape, or shake off the bugs first.... hard choice. Seriously we are in 5th month of restrictions, and just now they have made a rule that NO ONE enters a store without a mask.

It took this long to sink in, that we are in for the long haul, a vaccine is great unless it mutates, and then how do you treat millions of people worldwide?
    20. truthordare truthordare, 4 years ago
Hey Bill, I felt it would be a neat close up comparison if I used both our butterfly images on my post, hope ok with you. Thanks.
    21. billretirecoll billretirecoll, 4 years ago
Hey Lisa sorry that I didn't get back sooner! No just messin' around! :^D
We've had the Must Wear A Mask in a Store, for at least 3 months now! Most people abide by the rule, but there is always someone that tries to get away without one, and sometimes it will start a fight over the matter! Just Wear A Mask for Everyone's Safety! :^D

Lisa anything I post is grabbable! You're welcome! :^D

Thanks much for the loves given, aura, Leah, and Charlie, it's appreciated! Wear a Mask! Wear a Mask! Wear a Mask! Please! :^)

Hey Eileen thanks! It could have been ready for push-ups, but more just warming in the Sun, and still trying to be hidden! We always just used our Hands to catch Lizards, but when my Sons were young, we would go up the hill by our House, that we called Lizard Hill, and always bring back some and put them in our Yard, but then a pair of Kestrels, figured that were just setting their dinner table, got a lot of them, but we still have Lizards, and Kestrels in the Yard though, and our Sons got that nature learning experience, after the sadness of loss was gone! :^D

Thank you for the love that you gave, Rich, and Eileen too! :^D Please Wear a Mask, and lets help stop the Spread of COVID-19! :^)

it's been a wonderful year for the swallowtails! we've had a lot of them at my inner-city nursery in oakland too. a great native nectaring plant for them is Yerba Santa.

Thanks Pete! :^D Did you see Lisa's(truthordare) post of the same Butterfly in Northeastern Canada though, it's nice! Here Pete:

      https://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/plant-of-the-week/eriodictyon_sp.shtml

I like that it says that Bees that visit this Plant make a Spicy Amber Honey! Thanks for the love that you gave too! :^D Keep COVID-19 away, Wear a Mask Today! :^)
    25. truthordare truthordare, 4 years ago
Pete should know, that is where his parents are from, yes, old French stock Canadians. to end up in California is a wonderful transition.

Eileen I love your stories, keep them coming.

Bill, like your latest slogan - Keep Covid-19 away, Wear a mask today! Gold star...
