It saddens me to show this, even more than it did to actually spend numerous hours in the last couple days reducing it all to 2 full pickup truck loads (that's what these pics are, after unloading) in order to otherwise clear space in a storage unit I currently need for much better (mostly not 'organ related') stuff, which hopefully will not also eventually end up in a similarly most inglorious curbside demise. (and there's at least two more truckloads that still needs cleared outta there...)
All that crap in those piles used to be bits and parts of old organs, the vast majority originally built by many skilled craftsmen, of top quality material, (back in the day, the kinds of wood one couldn't actually buy anywhere now if your life depended on it) who turned it into what were once crucial mechanical parts intended to otherwise generate beautiful music. Much of it probably first dates from the 1920's-40's.
But now, here it all lays (as of late this afternoon) with my only further hope that the normal 'scrappers' will indeed help themselves to any of it they might want, for firewood or scrap copper/metal or whatever, just so I don't have to go to the further work to sawzall it all into dumpster-size pieces. Within the next few days a couple of "consoles" (the 'finished furniture' part of an organ most people recognize with the keyboards where the organist sits to play the d*mned things) and more will also get added to that pile, or perhaps replace that pile. (if the scrappers come thru for me in the meantime?)

I've just added a new pic #1 showing the pile as of this afternoon, after adding another (just one) truckload of further stuff. I'm actually kinda gratified (in a weird way) that so much of yesterday's piles did in fact just kinda 'disappear' by itself, today's additions prolly won't even last out there quite as long since (if nothing else) they include several panels/etc which *were* originally built and finished to be 'visible to the public'.
That is rather sad...

I cannot agree more with you lptools that I hope at least a portion of it all eventually finds its way to some unknown (to me) new purpose beyond simple firewood...that part I mentioned yesterday about some of it being made of now unobtanium wood (old growth California Sugar Pine, to be precise) is exactly why I just cannot otherwise make myself chainsaw/sawzall it all directly into a dumpster...*somebody, somewhere* (whether late nite scrappers or any other random person driving by anytime after I dropped it all there) might be able to imagine *something* better to do with any of it than that...for that matter even 'firewood' would be a better use than what I can do with any of it myself, my house doesn't happen to have a fireplace...? ;-) :-)
Hi AO, I'm glad I popped on tonite! I have to say, it is sad in a way, I agree, but on the bright side, look how much space you will have now to reorganize you things you still have. If I were anywhere near you I would certainly pick up some of those pieces for shelving and just get creative with some of the pieces. I have also had quite a few things removed from here just for more room and less clutter, even tho it's contradictory to what I just said. I think there comes a time, for me anyway, that I just feel too cluttered up. One of my issues tho is that when I do downsize, it always seems that a whole grip of "stuff" comes my way somehow. Kind of like Out with the old, in with the older!!! I hope you feel better soon about all of it!!!
Hey Tim, did you leave any information about the Parts and Pieces, or is it otherwise marked? I Just say that, because sometimes when people Repurpose Things, it's fun to know what they were from originally! :^D Keep Safe, Wear a Mask, and keep others Safe too! :^)

The good further report (if you can call it such?) is that the *entire* pile had disappeared itself by Monday morning, perhaps aided by the fact that in the meantime I also re-activated my local FREECYCLE account (if you don't know what that is, Google it!) and included a picture in my "offer" there. That by itself gives me a little extra ray of hope that at least *some* of it all might end up being creatively re-purposed instead of just becoming a bonfire... ;-) :-)
It's rainy and hot here this afternoon so I didn't even make a stab at building the next pile(s) of stuff out there but trust me, there's at least a couple more truckloads worth (in bulk, anyway) that are gonna end up out there too pretty shortly... :-(
Shareurpassion, just for a note of now mostly useless trivia -- that stack of white painted boards were in fact roughly 8" wide, 6' long, and 2" thick made of smaller glued up strips such that they'd never ever warp and also making them much stronger than similar solid-piece wood planks of the same dimensions. They'd have (maybe are on their way to?) made *outstandingly strong* shelves?! :-)
And no, Bill, I didn't even bother to try to identify anything...just piled it all up with a hopefully interesting looking part/corner/etc of whatever showing. Frankly even if I'd bothered to do so, not much of anybody else in the world would know what any of it is/was anyway. [however, I do have a certain amount of experience in noticing interesting items in other people's trash piles, thus maybe how to create a pile of my own to maybe help intrigue random passers-by to pause for a look/freebie of their own...?? <LOL>]
