We bought this the other day and it is very much like the airplane ashtray stand we found in here but it has the spade, heart, diamond and clubs in the top of the casting.. Would liiike to know more about it
Very nice piece ! I remember when every house had one :-)
I am in hospital right now so maybe mani can direct you to my page on this site where I posted my info on this site. THERE is a borzoi dog lamp beside my example of airplane ashtray. this comp will not let me paste. Hopefully will work as the computer site in hospital is not fully operational.
THE COMPANY IN TORONTO made all the airplane ashtrays and none until the 1990's were made in the states by a set designer. I know. IN the 1980's, i started to know of the parts on most of these ashtrays being switched around from ashtray to ashtray and also using U.S. parts. Yours has the original parts. My research over the past 40 years have resulted in other info but not good for time constraints on me.
Here is Phil Morris's Airplane ashtray he is referring to :-)
