Found this wonderful teapot at the fleemarket yesterday. I just had to have it. The design shouted at me as soon as I saw it :)
The mark tells me it was made here in Sweden by Rörstrand porcelain factory in the second part of the year of 1955. They made thousands of modells of porcelain items over the years, some modells have names some only numbers. The factory had several famous designers. I haven't yet been able to find out who designed this, might have to go to the museum to see if they have the information if no one here can help?
The color is deep dark red and it has a square pattern.

I was just poking around the Internet, and while I didn't find a twin, I did find this:

I realize that it's not the same shape, but the glossy finish and underlying pattern of a handicraft made it seem similar to yours.
In the Bla Eld pieces, the underlying pattern looks like braids or a knit, as opposed to yours, which as maryh1956 suggested, looks like a basket weave, or perhaps a tile mosaic.
Anyway, I just thought I'd throw it out there. :-)

Thanks keramikos! I love Hertha Bengtssons Blå eld. Very classy. I have held pieces of those and I agree there are similarities. But also differences.
Thankyou mp.kunst. In the text about the blue teapot the writer also think it looks a lot like Hertha Bengtsson but comes to the conclusion it is by Gunnar Nylund.
In the discussion about the red teapot a person anser that they say they read the mark (from the photo) that it sais SES for Sven Erik Skawonius. BUT I am not sure that is right. On my pot the is the number 552 and not letters. I wonder if they read it wrong. So I am certain what company and what year but still feel unsure about designer.
I am very very greatful about the research but still think we don't have a sure answer. But again, thank you! Lets hope we find the answer soon :)

Ah, so it's not a settled thing that the designer is Sven Erik Skawonius.
No unfortunately not. I will keep you uppdaterad if I find an answer.
I wonder have you made tea in this wondrous tea pot? I would be so hesitant to pour boiling water into it.
I have :) only to find it is a teapot - it can take it :) ha ha but I see what you mean. It is mostly a jewel on my shelf. Sitting there looking good :)
