Got this at flea market they knew nothing about it they put a clock inside it , it's made for electric. It says Ammerter Bristol Recorder Made by The Bristol Recorder Warerbury-CONN. USA. IT weights 27 lbs. Its built like a safe outside 11 3/4 inside the box 10 1/4 then 4 1/4 thick. Can't find nothing about it I'm going to make a safe out of it
That's Waterbury CONN I misspelled it not Warerbury sorry
This item intrigues me -- the brass plate actually reads "AMMETER" which is an electrical measuring device (that displays a specific electrical characteristic of *many* different sorts of machines and equipment large and small, likely including the dashboard of your own car) but the seemingly oversize cabinet makes me wonder if this might have once been some kind of "recording ammeter" which would have also included some kind of further mechanisms in order to be able to 'track' the actual amperage of any odd device over some period of time and any variations thereof. (most common ammeters simply display a moment to moment status, without the 'recording' part)
I have seen things called "recording thermometers" (and that should be easy enough to google, to get a better idea of what I'm thinking) that do the same thing with temperature instead of electricity. Never seen anything quite like this though -- I sure hope someone else here at CW will eventually add further thoughts/suggestions/answers! :-) :-) :-)
What a WAY COOL thing anyways about it, and no matter what it really once was!
