Hi Everyone!
This here bakelite (?) bar-top figurine was found at a yard sale. It was bought along with a bunch of other stuff for not much, and was one of my best finds there. It is stamped "Brownie" on the bottom, I do not know why. After hours of looking online I never did find another exactly like it. I am guessing this came off a cargo ship named Prosperity. I am not a picker by profession, but buy things like this when I find them! Through someone working at a local antique store I met Terry, who collects cocktail menus and recipe books. We are now friends, and he sent me this last photo.
What an adorable tiny ship and cocktail bar....that would be perfect in my dollhouse!
Very inventive item, perhaps it was a cocktail menu at a cruise ship table - love the ship!
Thanks for the comments and compliments!
Bakelite ship for decorating a doll house's bar, or to decorate it in general? I would love to see a doll house's mid century man cave!
I think it might have been on board a ship, but I am only guessing. A cruise ship table? Were individual tables decorated differently at restaurants in the past, like honeymoon suites in hotels?
The yard sale I got this at had several odd things that made me wonder if someone had sticky fingers. Plates from Sambos and other diner type plates made me wonder, were these types of things sold in the past, or only made for the business?
