Can anyone tell me about this Vulcan lighter? It was my dad's from when he was stationed in Korea. He was an Imjin scout but I cannot remember his unit and am unable to ask him now as he passed away two years ago. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
What a wonderful keepsake of your father, mine also served in Korea & very proud. There are some military experts here and hope they stop by & recognize his unit, good luck
Looks like an engineering unit crest. Putting a unit crest on your lighter was common during that era. I have some from Vietnam with crests from the French forces but mine are Zippo. I think there may still be one posted on my profile page.
My dad did two years in Korea, three in Vietnam with 11th ACR. He was highly decorated and served twenty years before retiring. He told me about the Imjin trail amd his work there. Rarely anything about Vietnam. He was a twenty year veteran that cancer, thanks to exposure to agent orange, took him from us.
DXII: 512 for the 512th Engineer Dump Truck Company.
I did an online search under "512th Engineer company korea dump truck" and found many snippits of information about the unit.

Scottvez, thankbyou for the information. I searched and searched myself, but I was searching for unit crest to no avail. Now that I know the unit, I can research it. I myself was in 2/2 AcR in Bamberg Germany. Patrolled the East/weat German border from 85-87
Glad to help.
Good luck in researching.
