      I have one very similar, just posted. The tin on mine is embossed with leaves/chestnuts, and has 4 tiny wooden castors on each side corner. Check out the comments on my trunk, maybe you can get a clue from that response. "The slats running from front to back verses end to end was patented in 1880 called the new design, so for sure it's no earlier than 1880."
