This is a cut glass bowl. I saw one over the weekend in pink glass.

Does anyone know anything about this? I have had it awhile.

It's 4 1/2" high x 7 1/2" wide clear cut glass. I do not see any stamps in it identifying the maker.

it is pressed glass. There is lots of pressed glass that looks like cut glass and then there is pressed glass that also has been cut to add embellishments. One 'tell' for pressed glass is the presence mold lines as in you last image. Cut glass will usually be quite think and heavy, and the edges will be sharp. If you do google image search for "American Brilliant Period glass" or "ABP glass" you can get an idea of what cut glass looks like.

I can't remember what I paid for this. It wasn't more than $5. The pink one I saw was $15. Thank you again for your homework!

Alien, this is a piece of Imperial's NuCut line, which consisted of many different patterns that resembled cut glass. In fact, at the time it was introduced in 1911, it was said to be the closest pressed imitation of cut glass available. Many of the smaller pieces were sold through S.S. Kresgee in the 'teens. It wasn't made in complete matched sets, the pieces were accessory items. It was so popular that some items continued to be made into the 1920s. Most pieces are marked NuCut on the inside bottom, sometimes difficult to see. Originally sold with a liner as a fern dish, Imperial also offered them without liners and cataloged them as salad bowls.
