This Pallme-König (Elizabethhütte) piece just arrived today, and honestly, if I didn't know what it was, and didn't see the wear on the bottom, I would think it was a modern art glass piece. The bowl is made of pink clear glass with yellow-orange spots on the exterior and a drizzle of emerald green glass. The entire bowl has a rich pink iridescence. The rim is very interesting; I have never seen such an organic and highly iridized edge before.
The bowl measures 4"x4" (10.2x10.2cm) square, and has a polished round pontil. It dates to about 1900.
Way Cool.
Thanks Kevin!! :)
That's a beauty .................What a great shape and fab iridescence !
Thanks so much Marty! I love the iridescence, too; even the inside is flashed! :)
What a beautiful find! Totally unexpected as 120 years old.
Thank you slppers, I was just telling my daughter the same thing! But I don't think 120 years means much to a 9 year old! ;)
I totally agree on the contemporary glass look.
It's a stunner Michelle. I know little about early 20thC glass but that shape seems unusual to me, and the base is eye opening.
That decor though! Gorgeous.
Fantastic! Love the rim!
Thanks so much, Karen! I am so glad you like it! :)
Thank you Sammyz - me too!
This piece is fantastic!
Thanks so much Wow22!
Small but perfectly formed; this is such a 'modern' looking decor that works so well in a square shape. FAB-U-LOUS.
Superb piece - absolutely stunning! I adore square glass, it's rarely seen & so wonderful - well done on a very special find! Just goes to show that "modern" is a state of mind rather than a particular place in time...
Bambus1920, thank you! I am so glad you like it. :)
Thanks so much Marin! It is a bit unusual to find squares in this era, and I agree with your comment about what is 'modern' too!
so contemporaneous indeed
Thank you kivatinitz!
One might say that this little beauty punches above its weight!
A real BEAUTY!!
