This was a situation I was in the last month, an Ebay item that appealed to me with its elegant Queen Anne Style, yet was confusing with it's marks and description.
I did buy it. I also wondered what the CW members who like to research and share their wisdom here would think.
The first image is the maker's ad from 1891 in London, the second is the store front, the 3rd is my new piece, the 4th is the base. This is meant to be a bit of guessing teaser, 2nd part will reveal all. Waiting for the piece to arrive and do my own photos to do that.
A decent picture of the hallmarks would help, otherwise no one would dare to comment to tell you the truth.
very amusing Kevin.....
Have edited the images in size and contrasts for a better look, image one is very hard to read no matter what I do to it.
If I were to take a punt with that pic4 at that angle they are London sterling silver marks but you can’t tell for sure. Another photo is necessary. Hasn’t it arrived yet ???
If I were to take a punt with that pic4 at that angle they are London sterling silver marks but one can’t tell for sure until it arrives. Pic3 is probably why you got it as a sleeper.
Well yes, arrived today and I had a good laugh..... more to come tomorrow.
