    (88 items)

As requested, here are some additional/better pictures of some of my rusty stuff collection I’ve come across in my yard.
The thing in #4 looks like a huge iron staple. What would that be used for?
I’m looking forward to information. I really appreciate your time and input.

2& 3 definitely sickle bar tooth. You are right about 4 commonly used where two timbers were coming apart. I don't think I've seen #1 before

First one is part of animal yoke.

YOKE - a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plow or cart that they are to pull.

Seems this group of items is starting to make more sense now.

fhrjr2 and dav2no1, I’m grateful for that input on these items!! I’ll be able put the sickel bar tooth in a grouping with other farming/plowing items now.
And the link to the animal yoke shows exactly how my item was used....that gives me determination to keep looking for more pieces of a yoke. Maybe the wood and leather rotted away and there’s the rest of it right there still together somewhere out there...I will definitely do some metal detecting when the weather cools off.
Thanks again to the both of you!

Similarly shaped things to #4 can sometimes be found holding downspouts to the side of a building...?

      Damonways - I’ll keep looking!
AO- I had not thought of that.

Thanks to everyone for the loves!

i keep finding the piece in your first picture. i saw one just yesterday, but i can't figure out how it was used.

ho2cultcha, I’m amazed at the weight of pieces like this….being just a small portion of something that had to be lifted, positioned - such as a yoke for an animal - the thing in it’s entirety must have been very heavy. People and animals really did labor!
Thanks for taking the time to comment. :*)

That’s it exactly! Thanks for the new link.
I’m looking forward to cold weather so I can stand to be outside and do more poking around in hope of finding more parts….I’ll probably try the metal detector then. All my other finds have just turned up when I was raking or planting….maybe the real treasures are just below the surface!!
