I saw several dental pliers before. This is the first time that I saw one with an index finger hole in it. I suppose that it gave more pulling power and kept the pliers from slipping out of your hand when yanking on the tooth.
Another interesting thing is that this is a left hand pliers, as I see it. I believe that you would have the jaws facing slightly downwards and if so, it would be awkward if it was held in your right hand. Has anybody ever come across a pliers like this?
No markings or patent dates to give me a clue as to it's age.
