Bank of Paran - $100 Bank Note

Okay I have to admit there's not too many times that I'm stumped. I can't find any information on this and have not seen any other examples.
Tried to look for watermarks but I can't see anything. Single-sided, feels like paper money...but when did the $ symbol come into use? And it's in English?
Thomas - thanks for the information. I wasn't sure because everytime I search nothing comes up. I would have thought that if this was a real Bank the more of these notes would be available?
I will change the title to reflect this new information.
