      Are they both marked the same? And what are they made of are they made of? You say its button size?

      Yes both have NORTH FENCE on the front 2 cms circle. They are silver in colour. I don't know the exact metal. They have slight differences in the thistle rendering? New here not sure how to add another pic.

      Solved my own mystery - as I said new to all of this. Found it on the WIX site:

      Description: NORTH FENCE around central thistle ?

      Category:???Scottish Fencibles; ?

      Type of button: Flat 17.5mm ?; ?

      Metal: Copper Alloy silvered .; Backmark: S.F ;

      ?Date: ?1779-1783

      My ancestors came to north america from scots land in 1621.. So a little before the north fence. Nice Find!
