This is part of a matching set handed down from my grandmother to mother then to me. I was told they were acquired in the 1940’s but I’m not sure if that is when they were made. The only identification I could find inside our out was “222” on the back. Does anyone know anything about this piece (or anything like it)? Thank you!

I'd put this in the 2nd quarter, 20th century.

      Ashame about the veneer damage.

This is a beautiful piece. I wish I could help with the identification. I can say that the veneer can be, "patched". It is time consuming but doable. It might not be exact but would finish those edges so more of the veneer doesn't get pulled off. Keep any of the pieces that do get broken off because they can be used in repair. Again, lovely piece.

Yes a lovely piece of furniture, (which can certainly be 'saved'?!) but also a handsome black furball 'accent' to your 2nd pic!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

GOOD LUCK with any efforts you make to restore it and please keep us updated -- welcome to CW too, BTW!

I wouldn't approach this with patching.

You have extensive damage and veneers appear to be splitting/ lifting on other areas of the drawers and banding. I'd look at replacing the entire drawer fronts and edge banding. Color matching shouldn't be that hard.
