As promised, here's a little more about whatever this thing really is, see also:

    https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/287198-rusty-tools-from-the-newest-old-toolbox

At first I was guessing this was some variety of wire stripper thingie, but after experimenting with it a little bit it does *not* seem to wanna do that task very well, or I was just trying to do it wrong. Therefore I am now back to square one in wondering what it is/does.

As seen, it's about 5-1/2" long, and seemingly good quality. Its 'blade' end is ground to a thin but not (now) very sharp edge all around, and is one piece crafted with the wooden handles riveted on. After the slightest little bit of steel wool (and not pictured) its thickest part of the steel shank is stamped "KOLHBERG BROS. / EL PASO TEX. / MADE IN GERMANY" on one side, "LA INTERNACIONAL" on the other.

Anybody gots a clue for me?? :-) :-)

Well...KOHLBERG BROS. . LA INTERNACIONAL cigar company... so my guess is some sort of cigar manufacturing tool?

Thanks SO MUCH for your suggestion dav2no1! I gotta admit I didn't even google that name, only having cleaned it enough to actually make out the stampings as I was taking the pics for this showing... <dohhh>

More hearty THANKS to Motoolz for your suggestion, which sorta fits with dave2no1's idea of something dealing with cigars. Mebbe we're really getting somewhere with the collective CW wisdom helping me out!!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

More thanks due to all y'all rest of my CW friends for your <love it> button taps, I'm way behind in personally doing so (as in so many other aspects of my life right now, this year, since spring) but rest assured you ALL are SO VERY APPRECIATED for continuing to enjoy the little bits and bobs I can still manage to find a tiny bit of 'free time' to show here....

...and that's now the end of that time I have left for tonite...gotta go horizontal now, maybe with a little helper shot of bourbon... ;-)

The flat blade is for cutting the paper seal around the cigar box. When levering open the box lid, the notch fits over the pin which holds it closed and this stops the blade accidentally slipping into the box and damaging the cigars.
