I recently purchased this green Girl Scout pocket knife or camping knife from an antique mall. Though I’ve seen them before, this knife was the first one I’ve seen that wasn’t totally rusted. There is some rust spots as you will see. Someone, I’m assuming KD who’s initials were engraved with an engraving pen, had also attempted the sharpen the blade once. This left distinct marks on the blade in circular shapes. This knife has imperfections and I’m 100% alright about this because it tells the story of the past owner. A Girl Scout KD who took very good care of her camping/ pocket knife. As a former junior scout, I appreciate the past care for this piece of history. As a member of a modern Girl Scout troop, we never received camping/pocket knives or knife training. Much like Boy Scouts had. Blade, awl, can opener, belt loop, and bottle opener intact. The blade says “KUTMASTER UTICA, N.Y. U.S.A.” Can anyone give me a possible date on this beautiful knife?
Placing your knife in a given era should be very easy. They changed their tang stamp every few years so just research their makers mark/logo and look for an exact match to yours. Pretty simple operation and the information is free online. I've deleted all my links after I gave my son my pocket knife collection but that is the best way to date it and put faith in it being accurate. Word of mouth may or may not be accurate.
They need something bigger now days ! LOL !
Very Nice Looking Knife ! I have one just like it, and my guess is 1960s-1970s era, as i have yet to do the proper research.
