I am unsure of the origin of the bowl. I purchased at an auction with a variety of items. It is 10 wide 3 1/2 inches tall.

Appears to be a copy of a Hopi Bowl?

      So, not an original?

I am not an Indian Pottery expert. There are other people here that I'm sure will chime in that have way more knowledge than I do.

So for me I have to look at the line work and design aspects versus an original piece. In the example I provided the line work is very crisp and bold even though it's shows age. Also the location of certain aspects of the design are much different than your bowl. For example the location of the old line inside the rim of the bowl. The original shows this line close to the rim vs your bowl which is down further.

Looking at pictures we can only guide you in the right direction. From there you will have to do your own research. And hopefully you will update us when you reach a conclusion one way or the other.

That was supposed to read "bold line..."

Thank you for your time. I understand it's my responsibility to investigate further, you had mentioned in your original reply that it was a copy and I thought it was indeed a copy. Thank you again for the information. :-)

canyonroad is the true expert on NA arts and crafts. But if I had to guess I'd say also that this is a copy and not original.
