Matchbox Originals - Authentic Reproductions
No. 5: The London Bus
No. 13: Bedford Wreck Truck
No. 19: MG Midget TD
A few more from my collection of many many Matchbox cars.
The Matchbox Originals represent a fine reproduction of Lesney Products. The trade-mark "MOKO" was adopted by 1948 and the first toy--a road roller--was produced followed by others. In 1953, stimulated by the success of the miniature Coronation Coach, Lesney decided to scale down their larger toys to a miniature range. They were packed in a small box the color and shape of a match box--thus the "MATCHBOX SERIES" was born.
MATCHBOX
Matchbox is a popular toy brand which was introduced by Lesney Products in 1953, and is now owned by Mattel, Inc, which purchased the brand in 1997. The brand was given its name because the original die-cast Matchbox toys were sold in boxes similar to those in which matches were sold.
