    Railroad Switch Lock and Switch Key

    Keline switch lock marked BN INC
    BN INC = Burlington Northern Incorporated

    Switch key marked C.P.R.
    C.P.R. = Canadian Pacific Railroad
    S - designates it's a switch key

    I have a small lock and key collection. the one thing I didn't have was a railroad lock. I finally got lucky and bought one yesterday for $5. It did not have a key, but I thought I had one that might fit. The railroad key was much smaller and older then this lock.

    KELINE
    Keline Manufacturing started in1977, manufacturing railroad switch locks and switch and coach keys. Switch locks are placed on railroad switches to discourage people with horseplay in mind from pulling a switch and sending a train onto the wrong track.

    The switch locks are furnished with a 12 inch length of heavy chain and can be fitted to any standard barrel type switch key. Unlike other locks of this type, our switch locks are furnished with a case hardened shackle made of 4320 steel.

    BN INC
    Burlington Northern, Inc. serves in the rail transportation business in the United States. It primarily transports low-sulfur coal, as well as agricultural commodities, forest products, chemicals, consumer and food products, metals, minerals, and automotives. The Company is based in Fort Worth, Texas.

    CPR
    The Canadian Pacific Railway, known as CP Rail between 1968 and 1996 and simply Canadian Pacific, is a historic Canadian Class I railway incorporated in 1881.

    Incorporated in 1881, Canadian Pacific Railway was formed to physically unite Canada and Canadians from coast to coast and the building of the railway is considered to be one of Canada's greatest feats of engineering.
