Hi I am looking for any info on this old cigar box. I cannot find another example anywhere via google or ebay etc. and it's driving me crazy - it seems like this should be somewhat easy to key word search.

I appreciate any input or recommends to good forums etc. and thanks in advance.

First thing to do is date the box. To do that you simply research the tax stamp on the box. That will give you a general era for age. From there you can research for registered patents etc. I collected them for years and in most cases the tax stamp is worth more than the box if it is in good shape. It is rare to find a good box anymore but I have seen them sell for over $3000 for one box. This is worth taking care of until you find more info. The wreck of the old 97 was around 1903 I believe, but this box is way newer.

fhrjr2 - Thank you very much, that sounds like a great strategy. I will take a closer look at the stamp on it. There is also a factory no. 1210 on bottom and 1st dist, PA 50 on bottom. I will do some more looking.
