    I thought that this was a more typical kind of RR pass, but realized it is a special document made for a Civil War Soldiers' Re-Union in Des Moines, Iowa. It details special conditions to be met and also dates of August 31st and September 1st, 1870

    It appears to be issued by the State of Iowa Adjutant General's office.

      Information on your soldier from the Historical Data Systems (HDS):

      Frederick Switzer
      Residence Waterloo IA; 19 years old.
      Enlisted on 8/22/1862 as a Private.

      On 9/13/1862 he mustered into "C" Co. IA 32nd Infantry
      He was Mustered Out on 8/24/1865 at Clinton, IA

      Promotions:
      * 8th Corpl 12/2/1864
      * 7th Corpl 12/16/1864
      * 6th Corpl 2/17/1865
      * 5th Corpl 5/1/1865
      * 4th Corpl 6/1/1865
      * 3rd Corpl 7/7/1865

      Other Information:
      born in Pennsylvania

      His Regiment was heavily engaged at Pleasant Hill, LA in APR 1864: They lost 46 KIA, 113 WIA and 103 captured.
