WASHINGTON STONEHENGE
The Maryhill Stonehenge is a replica of England's Stonehenge located in Maryhill, Washington. It was commissioned in the early 20th century by the wealthy entrepreneur Sam Hill, and dedicated on 4 July 1918 as a memorial to the people who had died in World War I.
The memorial is constructed of concrete, and construction was commenced in 1918 and completed in 1929.
Another great learning experience on CW- I didn’t know, before your post, that we have our “own” version of Stonehenge right here in the US.
That’s a fantastic photo....at first glance, I thought it was a fantasy or Science Fiction painting.
When I first saw the piece I didn't realize it was a photograph either. Once I read the description I had to have it.
