1875 PIERRE DE CONINCK Engraving "Strawberry Girl"
Year: 1875
Artist: Pierre De Coninck (Pierre Louis Joseph De Coninck) (French, 1828 - 1910)
Medium: Antique Steel Engraving on wove paper after the original by master engraver S. S. Smith.
Dimensions: 13 3/8" x 9 1/4"
Seems to be a few different sizes of this engraving.
I bought this piece at the same time I bought the "Gathering of Eagles" piece that I posted earlier. When I first saw it, it looked very dark and I thought it was a silk screen. I had a hunch it may be something significant so I bought it.
It has some weird foam stuff on the back which I will clean up eventually. Once you put light behind it ..then it really comes to life. The oil on canvas of this image is valued between $4500 and $5,900!

Her image is sensuous.
It's very detailed the eyes are very haunting...
Wow nice find ...she is beautiful! Those eyes! I don't much about the engraving technique will have to read up on it. I do have quite a few old lithographs. I love florals, landscape, and anything with animals or children.
Thank you for the comments. I just aquired a pair of new led Exit sign boxes..that may make the perfect light box for this? If so, then I can finally frame this. I'll update when I figure it out.
