Orange Eisenberg Rhinestones & Eisenberg Clowns for Halloween.
As a WWII scholar, I was attracted to Eisenberg Jewelry, and it is the first jewelry I actually collected. These pieces are from my longtime collection. The rhinestone earrings, brooch and bracelet are marked EISENBERG ICE, which is the marking alteration that was made in 1935 and patented in 1942. All Eisenberg items are not signed; and that creates some confusion for vintage and antique jewelry collectors. The enamel clowns included in this post are not signed; but confirmed. All items are in Mint condition. The Eisenberg Company, a great success story, still makes jewelry.
“Jonas Eisenberg was born in Austria and immigrated to the USA in 1885. He settled in Chicago and founded Eisenberg in 1914. The original Eisenberg company was not developed with jewelry in mind. At first, Jonas only sold ladies ready to wear fashions. His first jewelry designs were meant to be worn with these fashions and were intended to be promotional products to advertise his designs of clothing rather than items for sale. However, unfortunately, it doesn’t always like me back; it must be backgrounded carefully with clothing for me, likely because I am so Irishy — is that a word? — and blonde.” Smiles.
