Bear Pencil Drawing by Skipper Tollefson
I have had this for a very long time now. The person I bought it from provided a letter with information on the artist.
While doing research for my post, I found out that Skipper passed away in 2018. At the time I purchased the drawing I didn't know anything about the artist. But by looking at the drawing I could tell that it was quality artwork.
The piece shows well alongside my real coyote skull. When I bought the piece it was advertised as a coyote skull. Even last night when I was posting I thought the teeth were a little different. Thanks to CW member Congcu and his sharp eyes, we now know it's a bear skull drawing.
Skipper Carter Tollefson
Born in 1938 in Colville, WA, Skip grew up in Montana and Washington.
Skip received his Master of Fine Arts degree from UW in 1973. Painting was one of his life-long passions. He was an eclectic artist whose work amazed and amused many. In his last decade, Skip began walking several miles a day and participated in walking half-marathons in Seattle, Idaho and Montana.
Have you compared Skip's skull to a bear skull. Very nice drawing in any case. He obviously was quite talented.
It was pretty late when I posted this. When I bought it, it was advertised as a coyote skull. Even last night when I was looking at it, I noticed the difference in teeth. So I believe that you are correct and it is a bear skull. Thank you for the sharp eyes I will edit my post reflect this.
