(1 item)
Purchased at a flea market in Geneva, Switzerland. Hollow, silver (very tarnished but I don’t wish to over clean it!) with two makers mark / stamps at the top of the hook. It has been estimated to be made in the 1700’s and to serve the purpose of a sewing chatelaine - the hollow tube in the key was possibly to hold sewing needles or pins? If anyone can shed any more light on this item, or provide online resources so that I may look into it further myself, it would be most appreciated! I would particularly like to find out who the maker was and where it was made - suspecting Switzerland, given where I purchased it and also the Swiss Cross that seems to be in the ‘teeth’ of the key.
