Called a Landsdown Milking Stool, by the Cherry Basset Co.
I never saw a cast iron milking stool before, sooo, when this came up at auction, It had to come home with me.
The markings are underneath the bottom of the toilet style seat. After looking the stool at home, I noticed that the legs were sort of sharp. I thought that it could get stuck in the dirt in the milking parlor and thought that the feet were cut off.
After searching the net, I did see find a Cherry Basset cast iron milking stool, and it had penny feet (as shown in photo #4), but, I also found photos of this stool with the same shaped feet as my stool has (photo #3). Maybe they began making the stool with no feet and later decided to add the penny feet. Anyway, I'm glad that my stool is as sold and not sawed off.
I don’t know the length of time for an average milking session but it probably wasn’t quick enough.....I hope this was comfortable!
