Kralik Floriform. 23 cms tall and 15 cms across the flower mantle. Ruby and vaseline opalescent glass. Very heavy. I have admired this variety of Bohemian glass for a long time. I have a few smaller pieces of the same type. This was purchased locally at an antique shop. It always captures the eye when entering the room where it is kept and provides constant visual pleasure for both myself and my visitors.

Thanks, IronLace. Your collection is also marvellous and I am envious of what you have been able to procure. I have wanted to own a good piece of Peloton for years since I first saw some examples in Cyril Manley's book, 'Victorian Decorative Glass'. I think the Bohemian glass designers were extremely imaginative in combining color with form. This design is almost futuristic.

Russel117, this is another great piece of art glass...you'll find that Kralik floriforms are very popular on CW.
I too was inspired to look for Peloton glass by the same book. I read it in 1996, borrowed from my university library...& soon after I found my first piece of Peloton glass in a shop that was closing down.
Peloton was made by numerous manufacturers over the years, some by Harrach & others as yet unconfirmed. It was also said to made in England, from where I have acquired numerous pieces, including some fancy bowls similar to yours. As the style varies quite a lot, it's clear that it was a popular decor for a while. Some was made as late as the 1920s - 30s era, with bright Art Deco colours replacing the Victorian pastel tones.

Thanks, scottvez. This was my first floriform item that I purchased. I didn't know what it was and where it came from and who made it but I knew it was old. I love any piece of glass that has a combination of ruby, vaseline and opalescence. My understanding and appreciation of floriform has increased over the years. The Victorians produced some great nature inspired items.

Thanks, Richmond for your kind comment. Floriform is very desirable and there are so many amazing variations of this type. The old glassmakers were very clever and skilful.
