An intriguing thing here, carrying more questions than answers.

Old pair of binoculars, seemingly very nicely made/machined from brass. Shown here only after simple dusting off, no other 'cleaning'. The only markings on them are shown in pic 3 as best as I can find/photograph, reading "BRAZILIAN" on one side and "PEEBLES" or something (I can't really make out what that other word is???) on either side of their center adjusting post, each lens/eyepiece also seems to read "10X" with maybe another word above that.

To further add to the mystery...inside one lens there is an old paper label now loose in there. (pic 4) Presumably the name of a former owner of these, all I can really see/read thru the lens is what looks like an ink-stamped name and handwritten "Rock Island, Ill." on that -- I haven't even tried to open it up to get a better look at that.

ALSO -- for some likewise unexplainable reason, it looks for all the world as if somebody, long ago, "restored" exactly 1/2 of this set. Pics 1 & 2 show it best...one side definitely does not match the other with the current 'patina'. What to make of that, I likewise don't know.

    Happy FULL MOON, everybody... ;-) :-) :-) :-)

I believe that is Rock Island Illinois?

What does it say around the edges of the eyepieces? Can't quite read it in the picture

Absolutely 'Rock Island Illinois' Dave. Yet one more 'puzzling' aspect of this pair for me anyways, since I actually lived in Rock Island for nearly a decade years ago -- but these didn't come into my life until even more years later.

      THANKS for the <love it>, from you and everybody else! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

It looks like the maker name is on the eyepieces? But we cannot read them in the picture

After looking again Dave, I think you're correct about that -- as near as I can tell, it reads "SEMMONS". Frankly it is quite difficult to see, the pics were my first clue that there was a name there at all.

      THANKS ALL, for the <love it>s in the meantime!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

En los oculares debe de poner el nombre del fábricante . Tengo unos iguales hechos en Barcelona son de los años 30s. Iban forrados en piel, pero con el uso se desgasto. Se usaron en epoca de guerra.
