One of my better dishes that has been separated from its frame. Lovely, thick vaseline opalescent projections at the top which seem to imitate flames - perhaps made by S & W. The tips of the projections show strong opalescence and I think a bit of thought went into making this dish just a little more sophisticated. The cranberry bowls I posted a couple of days ago, also had these projections, but in crystal. Pontil is polished. Vaseline petal leaves are placed in a ring around the body and these would have held the dish in place in its holder. Very heavy for its size and I think it is a little larger than usual. 14 cms in height and 7 cms tall. Cranberry colour is denser towards the top. Body has optic vertical ribs. Pretty Victorian commercial item designed to both adorn and be serviceable at the breakfast table.
