I would like any information on this clock. I am not a specialist. It was my grandparents and before that their parents. I plan to keep it in the family and would like to find someone who can work on it in the Columbus OH area. Thank you!

      Hi ThelmaB,

      Welcome to Collectors Weekly, Clocks.
Your heirloom antique clock is an Ansonia model called the "Roccoco". It is from circa 1904 although your example could have been made several years before or after that date. The "June 14, 1881" date that you've found on one of the movement's plates is a patent date held by Ansonia for some design elements of the movement used in your grandparents' clock. It originally listed for $18.20. I like to adjust prices for inflation and your clock would have sold new for $530 in 2020.

Your clocks has what is called an "Open Escapement" The little gear and "anchor" right below the 12 is the movement's escapement which produces the tick tock sound as the movement keeps time. Open, or visible escapements are often preferred by collectors. Being outside of the case, they are often relatively loud with the ticking sounds. They can be a little tricky to work with when they are worn and out of adjustment so make sure you find a good, reputable clock shop.

I've looked at business listings on the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors website and the only clock repair listing I found in Ohio was this one: https://jljewelers.net/

You could also try contacting this Ohio Chapter of the NAWCC to ask for a shop referral. They may be able to help you: http://new.nawcc.org/index.php/chapter-23-buckeye-23

Good luck with your Heirloom. Obviously it remains in good hands.

If that solves your mystery, please indicate "mystery solved" in your listing. If you have more questions, please ask away.

      Thanks for sharing.
