Found this small, simple vase yesterday, in an op shop that I hadn't checked out before...& it cost me only 45 cents! Spotted high on a shelf of random kitchenware, its subtle green colour spoke to me & seemed to ask...would you kindly give me a home?
Made from two layers of cased glass, it is a pale green with a smooth satin finish. The inner layer contains uranium & exhibits a gentle glow under UV light. The vase also features raised enamel decoration in yellow - orange. It measures around 12 cm tall, 4.2 cm across the cut top rim, & 5.2 cm across the base, which is glossy & does not have a pontil mark.
I think most likely of Bohemian origin. I have a few other satin glass vases with the same sort of raised enamel.
There’s always something about green..
I agree, Penny! It's so calm & gentle on the eyes...
